Founder
Joseph Priole (February 8, 1969 - September 21, 2005)

 |
Joe Priole
began his martial arts career in a small academy in Medford,
NJ. After receiving his Black Belt, he taught for
several schools in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including
the largest martial arts academy in the country where he
first met Master Kirby Farrales who was then only 10 years
old. Knowing that he had found what his life's work
would become, he opened his own academy at the age of 20.
With the love and support of his family and friends coupled
with his passion for the martial arts and his god-given
gifts, he built the foundation for what would later become
New Jersey Martial Arts.
When he found Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu, he immediately recognized its importance as a
martial art and before it could sweep the nation for its
revolutionary perspective on self-defense, Mr. Priole
integrated it into his own academy's curriculum to create
New Jersey's original Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial
Arts academy.

Youth Program
Master Kirby Farrales (Master Instructor)
 |
Master Kirby
Farrales began training in 1988 under NJMA's late founder,
Joseph Priole. Then only 10 years old, he quickly rose
through the ranks to become the youngest master in his
school's history. Over the last
20 years, he has studied various martial arts including
Aikido, American Kenpo, Kodokan, Krav Maga, Tae Kwon Do,
Shotokan, and most recently, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in which he
holds the rank of Purple Belt under Marco Perazzo and Rick
Macauley.
With a background in Elementary &
Secondary Education and over 14 years of teaching experience
in the martial arts, Master Farrales' classes are
challenging and purposeful. He understands
that the majority of his students will not become
professional martial artists but knows that their lives will
be enriched from the experience nonetheless. Realizing
this, he promotes longevity in the martial arts and creates
an opportunity for continued success by making his classes
dynamic and engaging for his young students while providing
them with both short and long-term goals to strive for. |
Adult Program
Marco “Professor” Perazzo (Head Instructor and Head MMA Coach)
 |
Marco
"Professor" Perazzo started training with Phil Migliarese in April 1995 after
watching how effective Jiu-Jitsu was in no-holds-barred
fighting. He was hooked when he learned that a smaller,
weaker opponent could win a fight against a bigger, stronger
person.
Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu has helped Marco lose 70 pounds and become more
confident, healthy, and happy. Also, it gave him a chance to
meet new and diverse friends.
He wants
every student to have fun and walk out of
class
believing that he has taught to the best of his ability. He
believes that every student should train hard so that when
the moment comes, "you are ready to accept the challenge and
overcome your opponent."
Marco is a
tournament promoter and has a wealth of knowledge about the
world of Jiu-Jitsu. |

Kirby Farrales (Assistant Instructor)
 |
Kirby Farrales began his
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu career in 1999 under NJMA's late
founder, Joseph Priole. After receiving his Blue Belt
under Relson Gracie in 2000, Kirby took a 5-year hiatus to
pursue a degree in education. Kirby now holds the rank
of Purple Belt under Marco Perazzo and Rick Macauley.
Kirby has a strong grasp of the
fundamentals and is excellent at relaying them to those who
are new to the sport and seasoned veterans alike. When
he's not teaching classes, you'll find him on the sidelines
helping whomever he can.
